ordinary average travel nightmare

Snag #1: Ambitious travel plan.
Detail view: 6am departure to Dallas, all day meeting, 830pm departure to Boston, scheduled landing 1am tomorrow.

Snag #2: Misjudgment of correct airport lead time.
Detail view: Some masochist baby einstein closed the mf’ing airport exit off 93S, routing me and hundreds of other poor bewildered half-asleep type-A bastards through unfamiliar territory in heavy traffic for god knows how long.

Snag #3: American Airlines and US air travel in general.
Detail view: With an hour before departure, nerf-herder #1 asserts I’ll never make it and should go stand “in that line over there.” After waiting in said line for 25 minutes, herder #2 tells me I’m in the international line and can proceed to a self-service kiosk. Cursing and rolling of eyes, etc. The self-service kiosk rejects my check-in because there’s less than 30 minutes to go before boarding. All other BOS->DFW flights arriving before this evening are overbooked. I get on the standby list for the already-overbooked 655am, but bail in disgust before making it halfway through line for the security checkpoint.

I usually wouldn’t even be in the office yet, but so far today I’ve deprived myself of high-value sleep and wasted over $1500 of company money. Duck and cover.
